Yesterday Amaia turned 11. She was super excited. The days had been counted down since the beginning of the month and the hours since the beginning of the week.
We all woke up early to enjoy a special birthday breakfast of chocolate birthday cake! What a way to start the day. I think it should become the only way to start the day!! Of course the candles and cake didn't even get a look in until the cards and presents were opened. She was speechless when she received her very own kindle! And it was a delight to witness her enthusiasm and gratitude.
After breakfast and getting ready for school we managed to fit in some facetime calls with China and Greece. Then school beckoned...
After school and thanks to the sunny weather I treated the girls to an icecream. I don't think a "gouter" gets much better than that!!
Amaia had managed to do her homework for Friday on Wednesday and so she was able to relax and make more facetime calls with family and show off her cards and presents.
Dinner was burgers from Steak n Shake followed by more birthday cake. In between she built some Lego, updated her LOL sticker book and told us all about the writing competition she was going to enter. She was on excellent form!
As for me... I can't believe my little baby is 11. The years have flown by. I hope she keeps smiling her brilliant smile, laughing with abandonment as only she can, loving us all so affectionately and generously. I hope that enthusiasm never disappears and she can pick herself up after every stumble. I hope she learns and grows from every challenge. And I hope our love and support gives her the strength and courage to become the person she wants to be.
