Has it really been a week? Wow!
Well it's been busy this end but also good. Monday I had lunch with my friend Nancy. We tried the new place in the Grimaldi Forum, Cafe LLora. The venue used to be a night club but they have transformed it into a light and airy space. It's a big space so it does feel quite impersonal but I think they have done a good job and during a conference the space will fill up without a doubt. Now to the food, it was good. We had the special of the day " daube de boeuf" which was delicious, served quickly and very filling. We finished our meal with a mini lemon meringue pie which was good, although my meringue was a little burnt on one side. I would definitely recommend it and it's great to have a new informal place to eat, plus the huge space means it's child friendly. Yay!
Tuesday and Wednesday were tougher so I'm glad I'd had the time out on Monday. Husband was away on business so it was just Amaia and I for 48 hours. That was pretty exhausting, even though Amaia was good there were moments which were trying such as changing a nappy taking 20 minutes. That was not fun. Or the surges of energy in the morning which left me shattered by 09h00 in the morning. Not a great start to the day...
Thursday I had a free morning which was spent at Carrefour and the beauticians. Exciting stuff! Then this afternoon Amelie took Amaia leaving me free to be the domestic goddess of the good old days. I went to Marche U and bought dinner ingredients for "pollo al ajillo" (garlic chicken casserole - seriously delicious served with crusty bread) and mini lemon cheese cakes and then spent the afternoon cooking in a relaxed manner, listening to music and without little madame for company. I washed up, tidied and even made potato wedges as a starter.
Well we have just finished dinner and I wanted to finish this half started post so I am back and I am happy to report dinner was excellent. We ate it all and mopped up every drop of the sauce. Mmmmm - amazing. Then the cheese cake, not as lemon-y as I thought it would be and actually surprisingly good considering it came from a baby cook book. I made six portions, I know how much butter and cream went into it and yet I might be tempted to have a second portion although for the moment I am stuffed. So all in all a productive afternoon and an overall good week. Now let's start an excellent weekend....
