The May that never was

This year May was going to be busy... we had a lot of plans.

Amaia was suppose to make her Communion on the 17th May. My parents were going to arrive 10 days earlier providing Husband and I with some much needed child care. We were going to let the girls have a few “sleepovers” with my parents at the hotel while Husband and I checked out a few restaurants and maybe even fit in a night away!

My dad’s birthday would have fallen the same week and I had hoped we could have a celebratory lunch at Le Grill which is always a lovely treat. Of course we would have done more celebrating with the girls too.

I’m guessing my family would have arrived on the Thursday or Friday and the weekend would have been spent en famille eating and drinking and catching up. We would have split the time between Tourrettes and Monaco and if I’m honest we hadn’t got round to making any more plans because lock down kicked in.

Today we would have been flying to Paris to celebrate Leia’s 9th birthday. We had planned to visit Euro Disney as school is closed for the Grand Prix. (Thankfully they have still given the holiday despite the Grand Prix not happening!) We would have visited my cousin and explored Paris too. Who knows what else we would have done?! In the end none of it got planned or booked.

Monday is Leia’s actual birthday and the day she was due to leave for her first ever school trip away. She was super excited! She would have had a birthday with all her class and enjoyed four nights away from home!

But instead there are no flights, no Communion,  no fancy meals, no family reunions, no celebrations, no Euro Disney and no first ever school trip and no idea if all those things will ever be possible or as carefree as they once were... I’m not upset or moping just stating what life was like before - busy!
