Good Times
First of all I'd like to gloat and say I'm writing this whilst enjoying a coffee at the beach. Leia is playing happily and the sun is shining. I was already feeling pretty positive but this is definitely the cherry on the top.
Things have been ticking along sooooooo wonderfully well lately. I had my parents come and visit over the half term which was as good as a holiday for me. They took over the running of the house, brought over a car load of goodies and provided their usual five star super deluxe service. Needless to say the week flew by and I was very sad to see them leave on Sunday. I miss their company so much but am now counting down till Christmas. However they have left me a freezer load of scrumptious meals as well as a fridge full of goodies. Thank you Papas!
I also made the most of the help and escaped to Monaco for 24 hours. I had a leisurely lunch with my friend Nancy, indulged in some shopping and enjoyed dinner at the Beef Bar with husband and friends we so rarely get to see. We came home on Saturday morning feeling a little delicate but were welcome by the smell of freshly fried lomo with peppers and onions which was swiftly put into a baguette and most thoroughly enjoyed.
I felt like I came back to Monaco reinvigorated, energized and with a lot more patience than normal. This week hasn't been particularly easy but my attitude seems to have changed. Yesterday was particularly awful but made better by a quick coffee and cake catch up with Nancy who provided some urgent adult conversation and kept me sane for the rest of the afternoon! And by the evening a naughty takeaway made everything feel that bit better!
Another reason for the positivity seems to strangely stem from my new health kick. I am back to the 2:5 diet and it really seems to clear my head. I admit I have adjusted it slightly already seeing as I do not need to lose weight and I am doing one proper fast day: 2 rice crackers (60kcal), 2 boiled eggs (170kcal) and a bowl of 90kcal soup). I find not having to think about what I am eating or having to make "healthy" choices really makes this diet easy for me. If I can't face another full day of fasting in the week I'm happy to eat healthy and so much less than usual. My craving for sweet things has disappeared, my Coke zero weakness has vanished and generally I have broken the habit of putting things in my mouth without thinking about it. I sleep better. I have more energy and just feel healthier. Having said all that I will continue my Friday to Sunday indulgences! I also had my first personal training session on Tuesday and yes, my body is still aching. But it's a good ache!
So yes, all in all life is going well at the moment. There are lots of lovely things to look forward to over the next few months and best of all I am noticing how much easier it is getting with the girls. I have a little me time every day, I'm getting fit and healthy and life is less about coping and more about enjoying. All these little things add up to make a very happy Monaco Mrs/Mama! Xxxx
