Sniff, sniff, cough, cough...

Happy New Year everyone! I hope it has been a good one to you so far. For me it has been a rather snotty one. Both Amaia and I have been struck by miserable colds and coughs, I think we caught them in chilly London.

We got back from London on Monday evening, with only a 15 minute delay. I immediately started unpacking our 40 kgs of luggage, bear in mind we left with about 7kgs! I had less than 24 hours to pack again for our family week at a rented villa. It was great seeing all the family but unfortunately Amaia decided that she didn't like her cot and decided not to sleep through the night once that week! Thank you Amaia! On top of that we have had her first illness with fever, coughing and puking, it really hasn't been a great start to the year for her. She is hopefully on the mend but it is so difficult to say with a baby.

I actually started writing this a couple of days ago but got distracted. It is now nearly 06h00 and as I can't sleep I have been busy e-mailing and browsing the net on my new IPad. It's very convenient for moments like this! Yesterday was a horrendous day with Amaia taking a turn for the worse so there were more tears, puking and generally trying times. On top of that it was cold and wet so we didn't venture out which I'm sure doesn't help the situation.

Thankfully my sanity was restored by husband coming home for lunch, a mini siesta and then I got to escape the madhouse for a few hours as I had a scan appointment. My babysitter encouraged me to have some "me" time afterwards and I fully indulged in that. I got to see Baby L yesterday who is making good progress and growing well so far. I am amazed that my bump isn't that big yet and despite all the Christmas feasting I have only gained 3kgs in this whole pregnancy and I am half way through! Obviously I celebrated this good news with coffee and a chocolate brownie on my own and thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet. Next I checked out a few shoe shops and furniture shops in the sales before ending on a practical note of finally doing a food shop as husband and I have been living off leftovers for the last two days.

Naturally Amaia slept through her baby sitter and woke up a few minutes before I arrived. She was all smiles after that - phew! - and tonight she has slept much better so hopefully today will be a better day. And it's almost the weekend.... Can't wait! Have a good day everyone!

Ps. Why do I spend all day wanting my bed and feeling exhausted only to wake up at 04h00 feeling fully rested which I know I am not?!
