What a week it has been...
Yesterday I unpacked EVERYTHING. No more boxes in the house except for the two with books in. I managed to find space for just about everything but it has been hard especially when you have a husband who refuses to throw away old clothes!! His wardrobes are overflowing with clothes he doesn't wear but he still won't have a clear out.
After a day of arranging, rearranging, disorganising and organising I wasn't really in the mood to go party but we had our cocktail night at the Hotel de Paris. I wondered what to wear and then realised this would be the kind of place I wouldn't look overdressed so I wore my lovely winter wedding outfit - that's two outings in less than a month. Almost proving cost efficient!! ;0)
The event was in the exquisite Salle Empire which is breathtakingly sumptuous, elegant and from another world so WHY did the insist of trying to give it a "party" vibe with flashing pink lights and DJ? It really played against the room's strengths. If they wanted to create "Jimmyz" why not host it there?!?
There was a mish mash of outfits from strapless evening wear, long gloves and up-dos to people coming straight from work. My dress was fine for the occasion. Phew!
Of course we were late and we missed the champagne reception but the wine was flowing and there were buffet spreads from all the SBM chefs/hotels. Some very delicious offerings were sampled but there is only so much eating and drinking I can do standing up in my killer heels so by 22h30 we headed home. Well, we had a glass of Champagne in the American Bar first and then headed home...
Tomorrow we head to Spain which is very exciting. Hopefully we'll get into the Christmas spirit on the way. Our flat is furniture-less and Christmas tree-less too so I just don't feel Christmassy. Presents are wrapped except two that haven't arrived (sorry Michael and Richard!). Champagne and other food treats packed. Charity donations made. Packing almost done and then we're off! Yipppeeeeee!!
